A near perfect spin off series that is somehow better than the movie it came from. A must watch season that will leave you with quite the cliffhanger.

...some of the character beats, particularly when it comes to Victor's selfish behavior in the back half, weren't completely earned, which added to my frustration

With each episode clocking in at just under 30 minutes, there's too many characters who aren't given enough motivation or characterization to make them interesting.

It's a touching, beautifully handled piece of television to celebrate this socially distanced, lockdown Pride month with.

Shows like this one can play an important educational role for young people exploring their sexuality, but also friends of LGBTQ teenagers and their relatives. [Full review in Spanish]

Love, Victor centers characters of color, but never quite digs into what that means.

While it doesn't quite replicate the emotional weight of its predecessor, Love, Victor has enough charm and saccharine to gain an invested audience.

Everything about Love, Victor feels like home. The setting and cinematography are instantly recognizable, as are the teachers, and the score of off-beat indie tunes sets an all too familiar tone.

It's not the stuff that's going to walk away with a slew of major awards. But it is the kind of show that will hopefully make some teens going through the same inner turmoil feel a little less alone and a lot more seen.

An incredibly compelling and nicely messy first season of a television show. There's so much for the show to explore in coming seasons and with character's this rich, it will surely be a fun time.

The show succeeds just fine on its own - it's charming and clever and gives a few reasons to swoon... It could have represented something bigger, though, rather than standing as yet another example of Disney copping out.

There are far worse evaluations one could assign to a series than being harmless and kind, like a boy your mother would love you to date, which both Victor and "Love, Victor" prove to be.

As things stand, Love, Victor does not hold a candle to its predecessor. What could have been a coming-of-age teen drama in similar vein to the movie, I'm left feeling like the series was a cash grab.

It's cute, saccharine, and romantic as often as it is frustrating and clichéd. In many ways, Love, Victor is the same as its main character: a work in progress.

Love, Victor is telling a far more complicated sexual story and it feels extremely refreshing and relevant for contemporary audiences.

Victor's story stammers at the start, but if it's just getting started, the world may be treated to a gay show aimed at teens that actually makes a difference.

"Love, Victor" grasps the simple, delicate truths at the heart of a reality most Americans seem content to ignore: Coming out, even in 2020, is not easy.

It's a well-crafted teen soap, with a few clever wrinkles and a winning cast.
