Critic Reviews for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2

All Critics (32) | Top Critics (5)

The great news is that Season 2 of Agents Of SHIELD is even better and a massive improvement on Season 1.

The second installment has many new additions and not all the characters work. [Full Review in Spanish]

Jul 15, 2018 | Full Review…

Not one of the new faces were any more memorable or interesting than any of the original team members. As far as we can see, it's just a lot of quippy, blandly TV-handsome people with low bodyfat percentages.

Agents of SHIELD is back with a bang -- or, more accurately, a jolt of icy blue electricity.

May 2, 2018 | Full Review…

It's a smart twist.

May 2, 2018 | Full Review…

[The] two-hour finale... pitted agents against Inhumans, added at least four (!) deaths to TVLine's May Sweeps Scorecard, planted a seed for a future Marvel movie and, in that final, shocking sequence, had some alien goo gobble up one of our favorites.

May 2, 2018 | Full Review…

The good news is that season two is a bit less gun-shy, with an honest-to-Stan-and-Jack comic book villain in Carl "Crusher" Creel, The Absorbing Man.

May 2, 2018 | Full Review…

We'll have to stop referring to its stronger episodes as rare highlights and instead admit that Marvel flagship show has actually become an all-round entertaining show in its own right.

Apr 19, 2018 | Full Review…

The show has somehow completed its transformation into the series that Marvel fans were promised.

Jan 26, 2018 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

It's uncharted territory.

Nov 16, 2017 | Full Review…

The slow-burning tension between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Inhumans comes to a head in the finale.

Audience Reviews for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2

This season was scrambling for an arch most of the time. The new characters were bland and underdeveloped compared with the deep story and bonds of the original crew. The plot development (I refuse to call it a Twist) that is foreshadowed for most of the season is dumb and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The inhuman thread was interesting, but most of the time just devolved into Skye spending time with her parents. Never quite hits a good stride. Special mention to the Fitz and Simmons story-line though, that was powerful TV.

Came for the MCU tie ins, stayed for the trauma
  • Sep 21, 2019
Some fresh new characters, but still fantastic. This is the best MCU TV series.
  • Sep 20, 2019
Estuvo mucho mejor que su anterior temporada, y se puso emocionante al final
  • Sep 17, 2019
Super great especially may vs may fight scene Ming is always great
  • Sep 06, 2019
A good continuity of the show that doesn't looks back.
  • Aug 03, 2019
amazing. started a little slow for me but the second half of the season got more and more exciting with every episode till that explosion of a finally.
  • Jul 31, 2019
This show didn't start getting good until after the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier hit. This season was more of the same good stuff from the 2nd part of season one, so I rank it a little higher. As with all seasons, the weakest point is Skye/Daisy.

Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD goes from overly drawn out and bordering on boring to having me on the edge of my seat. They threw in way too many new characters to care about. Highlights are the evolving Fitz/Simmons relationship and the ever-sexy Blair Underwood as Agent May's ex-husband instantly making her more human. I also really enjoyed Grant Ward as a baddie. But the best part of this season for me was Kyle MacLachlan - he's terrifying, but kooky and really funny, too. So well done. Lowlights: I wish there had been more interaction with Age of Ultron - there was a lot of missed opportunity there if they hadn't been so distracted by wrapping up all of overly drawn out stories in the last two episodes. I wish someone had punched Edward James Olmos - Fury didn't (not really) die and leave him in charge! Also, I love Coulson, but I wish he would check Sky a bit more. Saying that I'm still here for season 3.

This one it's better than the first because it shows an improvement in general: Acting, writing and direction, a bit slow sometimes but still good.
