Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the villain's mind to figure out how he thinks. That's the job of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench. They attempt to understand and catch serial killers by studying their damaged psyches. Along the way, the agents pioneer the development of modern serial-killer profiling. The crime drama has a strong pedigree behind the camera, with Oscar-nominated director David Fincher and Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron among the show's executive producers.

While Mindhunter's criminal storylines are more suited for people just dabbling in true crime for the first time... its queer storyline was something a little more unique, beautifully portrayed by two powerhouse actresses. Go to Full Review

Unless season two lines up more dominoes relating Holden's white maleness to that of the killers he profiles to make a larger statement about the violent nature of white masculinity in America, there's nothing new to see here, folks. Go to Full Review

At first glance, this drama-based on an F.B.I. agent's memoir, created by Joe Penhall, and frequently directed by David Fincher-was handsome, twisty, and punishingly blunt. But the after-image is richly unsettling. Go to Full Review

Considered a landmark piece of work from David Fincher, Mindhunter Season One is some special. Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv embody their characters bringing this terrifying world to life. This series is essential. Go to Full Review

Ron K @Ron_k Dec 13 Apart of the Netflix forced DEI scenes that have absolutly nothing to do with this great series, storyline are capturing and well written, style of the show is very good See more Alexa K @aksss512 Nov 10 It's worth a watch. The show does best when interviewing the serial killers and worst when exploring the FBI agents' & consultant's personal lives. It’s unfortunate it was cancelled after just two seasons, though at least it doesn’t end on a frustrating cliffhanger. Although, that might be part of the problem. The heavy focus on character subplots slows the pacing and lowers the tension. So the stakes never feel too high or come across as superficial. See more Jonathan D. Oct 26 Very very well written, hooked right from the start, this could easily be one of the best shows Netflix created, shame on them for letting it slip away. See more Frederik B Oct 21 Beautiful illustration of that era, showing how incredibly fascinating it was to try to understand the psyche of a serial killer. It greatly increases the interest in psychology and criminology. It’s a shame there isn’t a third season yet — what an outstanding show! 👍 See more L. F Oct 17 This is my second time watching this series. On second viewing, it strikes me how incredible it is that its slower pace and conversation based narratives still manage to hold an audience's interest. It's a real testament to the script, characterisation and acting. The show doesn't rely on the same features which many bingeable shows use to keep people watching (e.g. cliffhangers, time sensitive action, development of active investigations etc). The cases being discussed are mostly old cases which have already been solved and yet the show manages to hold your interest in a differently way. True crime fans will appreciate seeing notorious killers portrayed on screen with nods being made to certain details of their lives/motivations. These conversations create a sense of unease, disgust, sadness, frustration and high tension, followed by relief when they are over. The storylines (both personal and professional) are intriguing and keep you wanting to know more. See more mark g @Mark_Alan_G. Sep 25 The interaction between the FBI agents and the killers is riveting, great stuff. Some of the other stuff seems tacked on and not necessarily needed. In particular, the relationship between Holden and his girlfriend, which to me was forced and tedious. See more Read all reviews
