Season 1
Reunion

Critics Consensus

Reunion has a killer hook for a soapy mystery but forgets to populate its ensemble with engrossing characters -- resulting in a series of compounding twists happening to people viewers don't care about.

Critic Reviews for Reunion Season 1

All Critics (16) | Top Critics (13)

It's built on boilerplate plot twists that are embarrassing in their sheer obviousness.

Apr 26, 2019 | Full Review…

The most interesting thing about Reunion is the question of how it will handle its ambitious, if cumbersome, time-lapse premise.

With that setup, Reunion probably cannot take off as Desperate Housewives did, but a few actors could make the first-season journey worthwhile.

Apr 25, 2019 | Full Review…

The problem with "Reunion" is that beyond the show's gimmick, there's not much to draw viewers in. The characters lack depth and personality and the situations are -- yawn -- overly familiar.

Apr 26, 2019 | Full Review…

The show could be compelling, especially if the cast pulls off two decades' worth of aging.

Apr 25, 2019 | Full Review…

Marvelous as its gimmick is, the pilot's execution contains the same flaws most guilty pleasures do when they first begin. The script is laden with corny dialogue, and the plot is predicated upon ridiculous strains in credulity.

Solving the mystery may not be worth suffering through stiff acting, howler dialogue, and corny era-specific references that clutter up each installment.

Built around six ambitious, romantically active, devotedly enmeshed friends, it makes expert use of the classic Teen Plot rhythm -- break up, make up, hang out, make out, make trouble, and so on.

Apr 26, 2019 | Full Review…

"Reunion" leaves you a little wrapped up in the intrigue despite yourself; it has the mystery death hook going for it, if nothing else.

Apr 25, 2019 | Full Review…

Work out the kinks and this could be a silly, sorta fun soap -- but Reunion is never going to be as cool as its premise.
