"The Office" and "Extras" creator Ricky Gervais gets animated in this half-hour comedy series, which features the voices of Gervais, his longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant and their eccentric friend Karl Pilkington. The cartoon first appeared years ago as a radio show in London before it gained a massive audience when Gervais and Merchant turned it into a podcast, adding at that time Pilkington's offbeat contributions. Its HBO incarnation consists of the podcasts' audio coupled with the trio's animated likenesses, and story lines mainly revolve around the musings of Pilkington, whom Gervais affectionately terms "a bottomless well of stupidity."

In short, Karl Pilkington has a slight, entertaining level of self-awareness now, which bodes well for the third season of The Ricky Gervais Show. Go to Full Review

The appeal of The Ricky Gervais Show is its lightning pace...But despite its various flights of inspiration, The Ricky Gervais Show is too settled into a predictable groove. Go to Full Review

07/05/2015 Ricky Gervais is a cruel sadistic troll. He is not funny. he ought to be deported for his sadism. See more 01/24/2015 I was looking to rate An Idiot Abroad, but can't find it on RT. The Ricky Gervais show is really funny, but An Idiot Abroad is even better. It's the only show that's made me laugh out loud repeatedly. Karl Pilkington is, on both shows, the best bumbling idiot ever. I was in tears at one point. If you like The Ricky Gervais Show, you have to watch An Idiot Abroad. If you haven't watched The Ricky Gervais Show, you should. But more importantly, you should watch An Idiot Abroad. See more 07/16/2014 An acquired taste, in that you have to first understand the context of Karl Pilkington and the banterous nature between Ricky Gervais, Steven Merchant, and himself. This was originally broadcast audio-only before HBO turned it into an animated series, and although I feel the animation adds to the ridiculous hilarity of Pilkingtons unique world views, it doesn't always translate into great viewing. You aren't missing out on much by just listening. See more Read all reviews
