Rob and Samira Fisher, a young couple and new parents, relocate to Rob's childhood home on Ashfield Place, a quaint cul-de-sac in the idyllic suburb of Hinkley Hills. Their quiet life quickly unravels when a mysterious man moves into the house across the street -- a creepy Victorian that has been abandoned for over twenty years. After observing suspicious behavior and learning about local lore, Samira starts suspecting that things are not quite what they seem. Home alone on maternity leave, she finds friendship with a ragtag group of quirky neighbors who join her in investigatory misadventures that bring them closer to the dark truths about their town. As she digs deeper, Samira begins to uncover long-buried secrets and deadly threats that shatter Hinkley Hills' reputation as "The Safest Town in America." What starts as amateur sleuthing quickly escalates and, as danger creeps closer to home, Samira must decide how far she's willing to go to protect her family and her community.

Overall, this was a really fun watch. Keke Palmer is, as always, a master of her craft, and really balanced the drama and comedy of it all with ease and expertise. Go to Full Review

It’s not exactly a ground-breaking take for the genre, but the often spiky The ’Burbs is elevated by its genuinely great cast and their chemistry mix. Go to Full Review

In perhaps the series’ greatest sin, given the envious trio of Palmer, Pell, and Proksch, it’s not even a good hang. All three proven performers have their moments, but they elevate the show, not the other way around. Go to Full Review

The story isn’t incredibly complex, and the pacing certainly has some issues, but the cast as a whole is what makes this so endearing to watch. Go to Full Review

The 'Burbs is the right kind of modernized reboot. With all the right ingredients, the series captures the pettiness of an HOA and just how much bored curiosity gets done. Always comedic and sometimes creepy, the genre-blending series just works. Go to Full Review

Instead of a campy comedy or a dark thriller, The ’Burbs is just an aimless IP extension without the kind of strong creative vision that could make it worth watching. Go to Full Review

Tim S. @Fignuts 13h This show was a complete disappointment. It doesn't deserve to share the name of the great 80's movie it fails to portray. The writing is lazy, pace slow, characters uninteresting, and plot aimless. It steals minor elements from the film while ignoring the points, which made it great. See more April Y @ayoung8824 17h Great casting! Love the humor! I really enjoyed! <3 Hoping for season 2!!!! See more Terra S @Blackladyingreen 19h The film is a classic, so I decided to give the series a chance. Some folks mention the racial element, but it last all of 15 minutes. I think using a character from an urban setting looking to fit into suburban life was a good touch. A lot of people are renters and the chance to move into a home and community is realistic and universal. But Palmer's character made some not so 'black' choices that usually are reserved for classic white leads. But they didn't harp on race relations too much. Now, the chemistry between Palmer and Whitehall was not there; when each actor had their own tasks, they did well. The cast dynamic was fun and them having their own issues made good use of the 8 episodes. Unfortunately, I called it by episode 2 or 3, but the series was kind of fun. A little all over the place, but still fun. It isn't a bust out laughing comedy; it had it's ha moments. If they clean up the plot, work on chemistry btw the leads, and keep having fun, the 2nd season will be a hit. See more Dana S @SpiritQueen 1d This show started so promising with the first three or four episodes really pulling the audience in- Then I don't even know what happened. It zigged and zagged and became some weird aimless plot with more holes than a golf course. Just BAD writing. Really bad. Nothing felt organic or easy. I pushed through to the last episode holding out hope but the word that came to mind when it ended was "slop." See more Taomi O. @BeTheLight4 1d Recommend 100% if you are looking for a good clean funny and mysterious show this is the one! I'm ready for a 2nd season!! See more Wendy R @Wewe1979 1d I thought it was amazing didn't skip a single part through all 8 episodes. Fully engaged. Hope they make a season 2. Very good See more Read all reviews
