Alexander Hale, a first-generation Chinese-American analyst, is stuck downstairs at his top-secret spy agency, The Orphanage. But when he suspects he might be the mole they're hunting for, he realizes that his eyes and ears have been hacked. Keeping the fiction alive that he's unaware of the hack, he works with his agency to hunt those responsible, even as The Orphanage builds a fake world around him, assigning him a new "girlfriend," promoting him to a new dangerous mission and sending him down a rabbit hole where it's not clear what's real and what's fake in his own life. When the lines begin to blur, Alexander is forced to take control of his own destiny and discover where his true allegiance lies.

Between headlining Marvel’s Shang-Chi and playing a Ken in Barbie, Canadian actor Simu Liu has more than proven his versatility. Nonetheless, he can’t find that much to distinguish this science-fiction thriller... Go to Full Review

It satisfies our spy TV jones, and Liu passes the test as a dynamic leading man. Go to Full Review

The show is well cast. While the characters on paper are pretty much types, each actor projects the essence of the part, adding enough extra personality to suggest a real person. Go to Full Review

...a lot of spy-work is really theater work, which is to say it's about playing a role and putting on a performance in order to sell a story to an audience. A lot of this show is about... a stage that is literally the world. Go to Full Review

One of the best shows on Peacock. The show's got intrigue, shifting loyalties, and moral gray areas to satisfy fans of the spy genre. Liu makes for a compelling lead, while the ensemble cast is solid. Go to Full Review

Tony J. @Kingfisher 3d Excellent character work and a tight story. Simu Liu and Marissa Barrera lead an excellent cast. See more Cavin M @Cavin.1324 Mar 7 Great show, even the casting. I think it only has I minor flaw, the younger actors are not great at the dialogue scenes, I don’t know if it’s the script or the acting but it does not feel real. Besides that the series is actually good. See more Avindu G @RT86379654 Feb 27 The unrelenting attitude of the story is what stood out the most. Our unconventional hero is a monumental milestone of breaking the stereotypes. While raising the stakes of the genre it brought in the old folks to the mix too. Visuals and audio effects were perfect. Storytelling was stylish and the solid performances by the cast strengthened that. Final revelation signals that Hale's journey has just begun and there's no doubt this show's audience would grow in number. See more B R @Bricheous Feb 20 The marketing caught my eye so I sat down to watch this one. I wasn't expecting much but what I found it to be a solid attempt at making a spy thriller with in depth character arcs. Maybe its the lack of good quality writing these days or a shortage of original IPs, but I stuck around for this one and found myself vested. Liu proves himself to be a worthy lead man. The supporting cast tries to push their characters down unique paths. I actually found myself remember names of characters (something I don't do often these days). Although the ending was bound to happen and was somewhat predictable, I enjoyed the show overall. What I enjoyed most was the constant questioning of what was real. It wasn't done perfectly but was more engaging than most. At least they put in the effort to create an intriguing and engaging story. Its not 24 or Mission Impossible but its a pretty fun ride. Give it a shot, you may enjoy it! See more Eyal O @eoren Feb 6 Wasn't sure what to expect and only started watching because of the high rating on RT. Really glad I did. Interesting concept and really well crafted episodes and overall story. I had my suspicions along the way but it didn't feel forced or contrived in any way. A really nicely done spy series and am really hoping for a second season. See more dave b @RT51811019 Jan 31 I watched all of Season 1. Will not be watching any future seasons. 1. The plot was overly complicated. 2. Alex passed the Copenhagen Test as he saved the kid who has greater value than the American woman. The kid could be brought up in the USA and then become an agent to be inserted into Belarus. The woman had no such value apparent. 3. Alex should have killed Michelle in his apartment after she stabbed him. 4. What was the point of Michelle killing the Frenchman? Just to prove that she was psycho? 5. The teasers for Season 2 were annoying. Just end it. 6. Supposedly, the Orphanage is not a large organization. Where do they get the endless pool of soldiers? See more Read all reviews
