The writers consistently fall back on the tropes and crutches that it felt like this show was avoiding last year Go to Full Review

Despite a solid opening episode and some strong performances from Justin Theroux and Melissa George, Mosquito Coast Season fails to live up to its predecessor. As some pedestrian pacing hampers a show which showed tremendous promise. Go to Full Review

These various little adjustments .. combine to enhance the watchability and steadily heighten the dramatic tension, making season 2 of The Mosquito Coast a richer, more satisfying meal, meticulously designed and structured. Go to Full Review

For all its potential in its source material and Theroux at the center, The Mosquito Coast Season 2 just gets caught up in straightforward clichés crossed with convention that it tries to dress up with twists that go nowhere. Go to Full Review

Everett W @E8908 5d My biggest struggle was how the show completely disregards the local inhabitants. If you ever wanted to truly see how Americans interact with the world this show is for you. The first season has some promise, but the second season was terrible. The writing and acting was uneven. It felt as if I was watching two or three completely different shows. Its also hard watching shows where people never truly pay for their crimes. I can't recommend watching this. See more Bryan D @bdemain 04/04/2023 At a certain point, the political principles become hypocritical. Unfortunately, the parents have lost all their redeeming qualities. I'm not sure how anyone continues to root for Theroux as an extreme lunatic and a mother who seems rooted with Stockholm Syndrome. The pace and problems continue to rack up ad nauseam, with catastrophes at every corner. It's a wet dream that leaves stains in the sheets. C for trying. See more Agnes L @cheezzletomato1 03/20/2023 Season 1 was better. Season 2 is full of filler episodes and bad ending. See more Danny R 01/26/2023 I enjoyed the first season because it had potential. Season 2 just drags on with no clear motive and I wasn't rooting for anyone. The major focus on the two kids was boring and I didn't even know what show I was watching anymore. The daughter's character was poorly written. She ends up being so whiney and selfish that you root for her to be killed off. Also, I didn't get who the bad guys were and what they wanted and the plot just got muddy. The two stars mostly go to Justin Theroux because he's sexy and didn't get on my nerves. See more Anthony Y 01/24/2023 Well i can say this much Mellisa George does a great job at making you really despise her character which i think there trying to do,Logan Polish(the daughter) pulls the same (toxic)task off with ease, tbh none of the characters are very likable which leaves nobody to root for except the bad guys which there's so many of those I'm not even sure who's running from who at this point, if there was something else on i would me watching it...!!!!! See more Raphael H 01/22/2023 Mosquito Coast season 2 delivers a remarkably credible depiction of a how a tech genius would have constant issues with his family. And about how to try and fit in with a communist village that probably no past entrepreneur would ever really want to fit into, but all of a sudden has to. I particularly like how Allie keeps bringing up that anti-conformist "don't seek happiness from buying things" mantra while still not seeming to chime into the "everything belongs to everybody" credo of the rest of the village. Another great point is how the kids slowly start to grow up, one likes the village, the other not all at all. And then they start making their own plans, slowly trying to get away from their parents. Overall, both seasons of Mosquito Coast break with many of the traditional expected plot points. There are so many surprises and turning points in the story constantly, which I think is great. The characters fight and disagree a lot - which is not annoying, it's actually great! I was surprised to read that the series was "cancelled". I think season 2 concludes the story perfectly and there is just nothing else to be told. It's a bit like with a great movie where sometimes they make a sequel and then the sequel is not great while the original movie was. I think more shows should only have one or two great seasons and then stop instead of trying to continue the same thing for years. See more Read all reviews
