06/05/2020 Season two, you really get into the meat and potatoes of the "kid" issues. Going steady, friend loyalty, what it means to be a family, and we meet another Cleaver. See more 05/28/2020 The second season overall but the first season on WTBS/TBS Superstation under the new name of The New Leave it to Beaver and the first with commercials. Wally and Mary Ellen have their second child, Kevin (Birth Announcement Ep 11), after which Wally sweetly turns original Leave it to Beaver instrumental theme song The Toy Parade into a lullaby with lyrics, and we see the first Cleaver Christmas episode – the cast also sings a carol to the audience (Home for Christmas, ep 16). The final two episodes of this season feature fun guest appearances by the original actors who played Judy Hensler (The Bruise Brothers, ep 26), and return appearances by characters Julie Foster and Tooey Brown - and a cameo by original Mary Ellen actress Pamela Beaird (Yesterday's Gone, ep 27). There is also a nostalgic show with many clips from the original Leave it to Beaver series (In the Dark, ep 10), and we meet Bomber Haskell for the first time - Eddie's youngest son and Ken Osmond's real-life son Christian (A Farewell to Freddie, ep 4), along with the return of Diane Brewster as Miss Canfield. Eddie and Freddie Haskell are still the primary highlights of the show but Eddie is starting to become a little more absurd, mean and abrasive, and certainly delivering more socially uncomfortable comments. The overall series starts to feature more sexual and sexist humor, Kip treats his girlfriends and dates pretty poorly, and the show gets more outrageous and unrealistic - Eddie and June run against each other for City Council (Perfect Candidate ep 9), Eddie forces Freddie to sit on a billboard for months to try to win a car (Home for Christmas, ep 16); and there is a highly improbable trip to the Super Bowl (Super Sunday, ep 18). Another new element is random fantasy musical numbers, though the My Girl number is a delightful hoot (Puppy Love ep 3). Nonetheless, there are plenty of other moments to enjoy. Notable guest stars include William Schallert (On the Wrong Track, ep 2); Christina Applegate (her 2nd appearance in A Farewell to Freddie, ep 4); Brian Austin Green (Does Not a Woman Make, ep 8); Alice Ghostley (Miss Honeywell Comes to Town, ep 13); and Heather O'Rourke (Bad Poetry, ep 15); Shawn Weatherly (Super Sunday, ep 18); Erika Eleniak (I Had it All, ep 21).
