Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster
Critic Consensus: "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" is a welcome return to traditional X-Files format, making the most of a surreal, comedic episode with terrific one-liners.

Critic reviews for Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster
Grade A. Darin Morgan, one of the show's great original writers, crafted a funny and touching "monster of the week" episode with nods to the past.
All that said - what a delight. Killer banter, great jokes and such charming performances from Anderson (clearly having a great time) and Duchovny (working hard to give his more serious moments real weight). And the supporting work is great, too.
Finally, this scene sets up one of the episode's strongest self analysis tools: the obstacle of writing mysterious fiction in a world where smartphones exist. All of this happens within like 6 minutes. Amazing.
"Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" is thrillingly alive with people, creatures, and all their wondrous shades of character.
Though "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" is the weakest script Morgan has contributed to the show, it still boasts enough tremendous moments to be one of the biggest TV events of the year.
