"True Haunting" is slickly produced, which sets it apart, but that polish may undermine its sense of authenticity. Go to Full Review

True Haunting does a good job of mixing the scripted reenactments and real-life interviews about these paranormal encounters, which is something that’s rare in the horror docuseries genre. Go to Full Review

What is infuriating about shows like this is that they encourage viewers to believe that paranormal phenomena might be real, without putting in any of the hard work necessary to justify that conclusion. Go to Full Review

True Haunting is fine, tense, even, but hardly anything more than that. Go to Full Review

...it does have quite a few of James Wan’s signature moves. Either he was fairly hands-on or the directors were inspired. This is far from the first Netflix docudrama in the paranormal horror niche, but it just might be the best so far. Go to Full Review

The concise elevator pitch of Netflix’s True Haunting seems to have been, simply, another in a long list of enduringly popular but typically terrible “true stories” about real-life hauntings, but with a glossy, cinematic sheen over those re-enactments. Go to Full Review

Luz L @Luzluvsmovies Dec 14 If you enjoy documentaries, the paranormal, or realistic horror, I’d certainly recommend watching True Haunting. Its episodes are quite long allowing viewers to really indulge in its content and each episode help develop the story as the show progresses. This show keeps viewers at the edge of their chairs. If you are familiar with the works of ed and Lorraine Warren you may find this show interesting to you. See more Sophie M Oct 24 I loved this series. It was a great thing to watch just as the nights are drawing in. They were both good, but the second one really appealed to me much more. There was more of a build-up and a real story behind it. The first one felt a little more tenuous, but was still a really great story to watch. It made me jump more than once. I particularly liked the style of documentary-dramatisation hybrid. See more Damian A. @TalkTeaV Oct 22 The series let witnesses, families, and investigators share their sides without rushing through the details. Usually, docuseries offer individual hour long stories that you don't get enough details from. The pacing was a bit slow in some areas, but the eerie atmosphere and a few well-placed jump scares pulled me in from the start. I finished watching, wishing there was another story. See more L. F Oct 13 Loved it! I don't care if it's fabricated or not, it was a great series to watch in the lead up to Halloween! See more DL W Oct 13 I was on the edge of my seat. I’m not sure what I believe, but the second story felt more believable to me. They had real footage and brought ghost hunters in into the house. Both stories had multiple witnesses and was intense, but parts felt a little overdone. Still, both were super eerie and kept me hooked. It’s worth watching! See more Aye E Oct 12 Eerie Hall: Great production value. Good interviews. But the whole thing has no substance. They interviewees don't actually describe much of anything but "attacks", cold air, nightmares, and one incident of scratches, and "seeing" something which is never even described, definitely no details to the things they say at all. The pictures show nothing, the audio recording of a "voice" sounds like an engine turning on and revving outside. The reenactments imply A LOT, and little of it seems to connect to what is described. Shows like these aren't interesting unless I hear from the people exactly what they experience, not some silly overdramatized reenactments. This also drags on waaaay tooo loooong. The first 3 episode arc is ridiculous, could be one episode. This House Murdered Me: Similarly has great production value added to the ho-hum typical haunting show with reenactments. The story is a bit more compelling with some of the interviewees actually giving specific details of their experience. But it still relies too heavily on using reenactments to give an impression of their experiences, overriding any believability. And even though they had real footage a few moments were ruined by them cutting away to interviewees descriptions but not showing what the people there were describing, if they had done that it would've added some credibility. Also, too long. Could've been one episode. See more Read all reviews
