Suzanne Sugarbaker goes to Washington, D.C., to fill the congressional seat of her late husband, Ray, as a favor to the governor. To help her feel more at home, Suzanne brings along Jim, her mentally challenged brother, and her adopted daughter, Desiree. Her staff is a diverse bunch: uptight and brittle administrative assistant Natalie Hollingsworth, press secretary (and recovering alcoholic) Sissy Emerson and Jennifer Malone, a fragile housewife trying to recover from being abandoned by her husband. Later, new intern Veda Walkman joins the team.

Kinsey Lowe Variety 07/17/2019
Die-hard fans of Designing Women are sure to check this out, and if writer Bloodworth-Thomason can sustain the high-velocity, sharp-tongued wit of the premiere, she'll have a hit on her hands. Go to Full Review
Tom Shales Washington Post 07/17/2019
Most of the jokey observations are trite and banal; the Thomasons are sloppy skewerers. Go to Full Review
John J. O'Connor New York Times 07/17/2019
In Designing Women, Suzanne was one among feisty equals. Here she becomes the unmistakable center of attention, leaving her co-stars little to do but feed her cues and stand around looking exasperated. Go to Full Review
Joyce Millman San Francisco Examiner 07/17/2019
As a sitcom, "Women" is lackluster and stunningly unoriginal. More important, as a forum for the Thomasons' gripes, it's heavy-handed and transparent. Go to Full Review
Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) 07/17/2019
It's bright and funny, and the combination of Bloodworth-Thomason's writing and Burke's portrayal of Suzanne is a return to a real television classic. Go to Full Review
