The animated series is not for children. In fact, its goal seems to be to offend as many as possible as it presents the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show has taken on Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, politicians of every stripe and self-important celebrities. Oh, and Kenny is killed in many episodes.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

South Park is gallingly crude in both its humor and art style, but this upstart cartoon is blisteringly funny as it blasphemes against conservative and liberal attitudes alike.

Really, this wasn't little boys' talk at all; it was adults putting foul corpses into the mouths of innocents, imputing to them all the misogynistic, racist, homophobic vulgarity that their worst elders speak. Go to Full Review

I confess I am enamored of South Park for the same reasons as its fans: It's shocking, sick -- and funny -- humor... [But] strip away all the cursing and violence, and you'll find a sweet, innocent heart. Go to Full Review
Paul Kalina The Age (Australia) 03/15/2021
Where its contemporaries temper their cynicism with affection and acceptance of their characters' flaws, South Park remains resolutely smug and malicious. The ultimate impression is of a tedious case of arrested development. Go to Full Review

It is twisted, it is adult and, if you're in the mood for some unapologetically outrageous fare, it is very funny. Go to Full Review

The new TV season already has its first bona fide bit of genius. It's called South Park, and soon the name of this brilliant, pants-wettingly funny show will be on everyone's lips. But not always for the same reasons. Go to Full Review

Jack F @MovieFan111 Nov 7 Ah yes. South Park. Where to begin... We all had our South Park phase where we literally could not stop watching it on spring break and every time else... At least that was me. It actually serves as a quite effective form of therapy, if I do say so myself. Definitely one of the most unique things you will ever watch.
