Alex Martin

American actor Alex Martin was born on May 9, 1974, the only child of Whoopi Goldberg and Alvin Martin. Goldberg raised her as a single mother after divorcing Alvin Martin and the two traveled around the US as Goldberg built her career in comedy and acting. As her mother's career began taking off, Martin joined her occasionally as a child actor appearing first in "The Color Purple" (1985). In the 90s, Martin appeared in her mother's film "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit" (1993). In 1994, she earned the title of Miss Golden Globe and participated in the award ceremony. As an adult, Martin was a guest host on "The View" (ABC, 1997- ) multiple times. In 2015, she starred in her own reality show "According to Alex" (BET, 2015).
