After graduating from the University of Southern California, David Weddle wrote a biography of legendary film director Sam Peckinpah, who had been a family friend. The book got Weddle a meeting at Paramount for the series "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Along with Bradley Thompson, his writing partner and a fellow USC graduate, Weddle pitched ideas for the show, and both joined "Deep Space Nine"'s writing staff for its latter seasons. Post-"Trek," Weddle would write for a new incarnation of the classic series "The Twilight Zone," as well as for the fantasy-horror series "The Fearing Mind." Unfortunately, neither of these programs had a particularly long run. Luckily, while working on "Deep Space Nine," Weddle and Thompson met producer Ronald D. Moore, who would hire Weddle and Thompson for his next project, "Battlestar Galactica." The pair worked their way up from story editors on the first season, to co-producers in the second season, to supervising producers by the fourth. They also wrote a number of episodes as well as the web series "Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance." In 2008, Thompson and Weddle became writers and supervising producers on "CSI: Las Vegas," and were promoted to co-executive producers in the show's 10th season.
