Jody Watley was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "In Person From the Palace" (CBS, 1986-87). She appeared in a number of television specials, including "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve '88" (ABC, 1987-88) and "1987 Power Hits New Year's Eve Countdown" (1987-88). In the eighties and the nineties, Watley devoted her time to various credits, such as "The 1989 MTV Video Music Awards" (MTV, 1989-1990), "The 4th Annual Soul Train Music Awards" and "Switch" (1991) starring Ellen Barkin. She also worked on "White Men Can't Jump" with Wesley Snipes (1992). She held additional roles in television including a part on "Hitz" (UPN, 1997-98). She also appeared in the Hank Azaria action movie "Mystery Men" (1999). Watley also contributed music to the Eddie Murphy box office smash fantastical comedy "Dr. Dolittle" (1998). Most recently, Watley worked on "Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America" (VH1, 2009-2010).
