Indian singer popularly known as K.K. was born in Delhi, India, in 1968. He dedicated himself to advertisement, recording more than 3500 jingles in 11 languages, before breaking into the movie industry as part of the soundtrack for the films "Kadhal Desam" (1996) and "Minsara Kanavu" (1997). Despite struggling at first to establish a career as a solo singer, his first album, "Pal" (1999), earned him local fame, remaining popular to this day. His debut in Bollywood came with the movie "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" (1999), which he considered to be the turning point of his career. During the early 2000s, he made songs for several movies, both in Hindi and Tamil, as well as the ballad "Cineraria" (2008) in English. This prolific career earned him six Filmfare Awards nominations and the 2009 Screen Award for Best Playback Singer. According to many, his songs defined Tamil culture during that decade. He was part of several televised talent shows, like "Indian Idol Junior" (Sony, 2013-15) and performed on MTV specials during the 2010s. K.K. passed away in 2022 from a heart attack, being hailed by the press as Bollywood's most versatile singer.
