As much as the NBC franchise of "Law & Order"programs has been a gold mine for solid, well-trained actors, it has proved even more beneficial to those lucky enough to latch on to one or more of the installments in a long-running behind the scenes capacity. One such fortunate person is Michael S. Chernuchin. After beginning his career as the creator of short-lived series "Eddie Dodd" in 1991, he joined "Law & Order" as an executive story editor and writer. He wrote three episodes that first season and continued to work on the show for many years as a co-producer, producer, supervising producer and executive producer. Overall, Chernuchin wrote 54 episodes during his run on the show from 1991 to 2007. He also took time out to co-write the Arnold Schwartzenegger action film "Eraser" and was able to leverage his experience on "Law & Order" into writing assignments on other, similar crime series such as "Homicide - Life on the Street." In 2002, Chernuchin began work on yet another "Law & Order" franchise, serving as executive producer and writer for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." Chernuchin has also written episodes for "Law & Order: UK" and "Law & Order: Los Angeles."
