Robert James was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In the beginning of his acting career, James starred in comedies like "Speedway" (1968) starring Elvis Presley and the Dean Jones film "The Love Bug" (1968). He also appeared in the TV movie "The Four Feathers" (NBC, 1977-78). He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including parts on "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" (PBS, 1970) and "The Onedin Line" (1976-77). He also appeared in the TV special "Jane Eyre" (BBC 1, 1984-85). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "The Master of Ballantrae" (CBS, 1983-84). He also landed roles in the miniseries "Ike" (1978-79) and "The First Olympics: Athens 1896" (1983-84). He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "The Jewel in the Crown" (PBS, 1984-85). He held additional roles in television including a part on "First Among Equals" (PBS, 1986-87). He also was featured in the TV movie "Jack Higgins' On Dangerous Ground" (Showtime, 1995-96). He also appeared in the dramatic adventure "Dark River" (1990) with Tom Bell and the Eileen Atkins comedy adaptation "Cold Comfort Farm" (1996). Most recently, James acted in the thriller "The Innocent Sleep" (1997) with Annabella Sciorra.
