Biography:

After receiving an MA studying the anthropology of popular culture, I decided academia wasn't for me. I turned to podcasting to review television, movies, and explain why different facets of popular culture matter. After a year of podcasting, I turned to writing out my reviews and quickly made press lists to review films. Not only to I review films, but I analyze their impact and attempt to see beyond my own genre biases.

Ready or Not: Texas: Season 1 (2026) 8/10 EDIT “Ready or Not Texas is one of the best variety shows on Netflix, and more importantly, it’s a proof of concept for how well a Korean variety series can be received in the US.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Mar 7, 2026 Full Review Young Sherlock: Season 1 (2026) 84% 9/10 EDIT “This is a different look at a character that audiences know all too well, and, instead of being derivative, Young Sherlock finds the necessary spark to sustain itself outside the shadow of any existing adaptation. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Mar 7, 2026 Full Review 56 Days: Season 1 (2026) 62% EDIT “56 Days isn’t good, but it is engaging, with performances that pique curiosity and an electric chemistry between the characters that makes you keep pressing play on the next episode. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Mar 4, 2026 Full Review The Night Agent: Season 3 (2026) 86% EDIT “Ultimately, The Night Agent Season 3 is just good espionage, political plotting, and aggressive displays of power. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Mar 4, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1 (2026) 94% 10/10 EDIT “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the first time an HBO-produced fantasy has come close to capturing the hope and joy I felt experiencing The Lord of the Rings for the first time.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 23, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 3 (2026) 9/10 EDIT “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 3 is still taking its time to let the audience see and get to know the characters and the world through them. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 17, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 2 (2026) 9/10 EDIT “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 2 is the continuation of a new kind of story in Westeros, a smaller one, a unique one, and ultimately a kinder one. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 17, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 4 (2026) 9/10 EDIT “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 4 is the best episode yet, and it’s all thanks to how it makes Dunk confront the ugly world he is a part of. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 17, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 5 (2026) 10/10 EDIT “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 5 is the best singular episode of a Game of Thrones series, and it just may be on of the best television episodes ever. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 17, 2026 Full Review The 'Burbs: Season 1 (2026) 78% 8/10 EDIT “The 'Burbs is the right kind of modernized reboot. With all the right ingredients, the series captures the pettiness of an HOA and just how much bored curiosity gets done. Always comedic and sometimes creepy, the genre-blending series just works.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 13, 2026 Full Review Cross: Season 2 (2026) 95% 8/10 EDIT “Cross Season 2 is bigger than the last with even larger stakes and impacts that will ripple across any new season of the series. And with Aldis Hodge’s charisma and portrayal of one of television’s best detectives, let’s hope there are many more seasons.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Feb 13, 2026 Full Review Agatha Christie's Seven Dials: Season 1 (2026) 71% 9/10 EDIT “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials taps into the nostalgia fans of the genre have, but without feeling like a retread. Yes, it’s Agatha Christie, but through Mia McKenna-Bruce’s performance, it feels familiar and new at the same time.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Jan 27, 2026 Full Review A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 1 (2026) 9/10 EDIT “Small in scope and scale, the intimate promise of a character story makes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 1 endlessly endearing.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Jan 20, 2026 Full Review The Boyfriend: Season 2 (2026) 100% 9/10 EDIT “The Boyfriend Season 2 captures the depth of relationships and the importance of finding community. While the romances are there, the heart of this series, like His House before it, is to bring men together. ” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Jan 16, 2026 Full Review His & Hers: Season 1 (2026) 70% 7/10 EDIT “His and Hers is a decent whodunnit and a better melodrama. The twists in the series often struggle to find grounded approaches to the big moments unraveling, but the sincerity with which our leads play their parts keeps it entertaining.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Jan 16, 2026 Full Review Hijack: Season 2, Episode 1 (2026) 6.5/10 EDIT “While the premiere episode may feel like a whole lot of nothing at the outset, setting up the situation and stakes is vital to ensuring the season heads down the right path, and it does. Now, it just needs to start paying off. ” – But Why Tho? From electric chemistry to grounded intimacy, this is a romance series that plays with all of the tropes you would expect but hardly lets itself be constrained by them.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Dec 27, 2025 Full Review Fallout: Season 2 (2025) 96% 9/10 EDIT “Fallout Season 2 covers a lot of narrative ground and even directly interacts with Fallout: New Vegas, bringing the game’s elements to life. The series isn’t constrained by its source material; it’s thriving.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Dec 16, 2025 Full Review IT: Welcome to Derry: Season 1, Episode 8 (2025) 8/10 EDIT “It: Welcome to Derry Episode 8 is surprising, and much of that comes from the increased fidelity of the special effect work and how seamlessly the showrunners have worked bloodlines into the series.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community Dec 15, 2025 Full Review IT: Welcome to Derry: Season 1, Episode 7 (2025) 6.5/10 EDIT “IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 is a chimera of an episode… The tonal disconnect between the two halves of the episode is difficult to swallow, and it cheapens the tragedy of The Black Spot.” – But Why Tho?
