In the future, medical technology has advanced to the point where people can buy artificial organs to extend their lives. But if they default on payments, an organization known as the Union sends agents to repossess the organs. Remy (Jude Law) is one of the best agents in the business, but when he becomes the recipient of an artificial heart, he finds himself in the same dire straits as his many victims. With his former partner (Forest Whitaker) in hot pursuit, Remy runs for his life.

Más allá de ser una historia intrigante, tener buenos efectos visuales y gore bien trabajado, Repo Men es una de esas películas de ciencia ficción que ofrece un buen mensaje que nos hace pensar sobre la sociedad capitalista en la que vivimos. No es algo muy relevante para alguien que se encuentra en un buen estatus social, pero para alguien que ocupa un puesto bajo en la sociedad, deja bastante en que pensar. Sobre todo en un mundo donde las ganancias y los intereses corporativos parecen valer mucho más que la vida de un necesitado. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 9/10.

It's weird how I had overlooked this movie so, so many times, flicking through the cable TV channels, always thinking that it would be the 1984 classic with the same title. Only now did I realized that these are two very different movies with identical titles, only to confuse even a movie fan like me. Anyway, realizing my mistake, I finally watched it, being delighted that it had Jude Law, Liev Schreiber and Alice Braga (I'm not a fan of Forest Whitaker). The movie is cruel, brutal, in fact, quite merciless with a clever story, and for most parts enjoyably tense. Unfortunately at the very end it becomes outrageously and senselessly bloody, beyond the level of a John Wick movie (and that 4 years before the first one of the Wick franchise) only to finish in an absolutely unexpected twist. Too cruel and bloody for me, but I have to admit, very cleverly made. 7/10 points.

I adore this weird little cult film because it's not the opera nor a Hot Topic shopper's erotic dream. Great leads, solid acting all around, ghoulish violence and humor, and last but not least: the absolute best (and possibly only) cybernetic-surgical-sex scene you will ever see. If you're a fan of poorly rated yet awesome films, this film's for you.
