A bungle in the jungle.
And the continent probably would after viewing one of the weakest of the A&C comedies.
Not a great Abott and Costello, but a favorite nonetheless.
Audience Reviews for Africa Screams
★★1/2 (out of four) I must say that I am not the biggest Abbott and Costello fan. I prefer the Marx Brothers style of humor. I find them more witty and ironic. Abbott and Costello are more obvious, nothing deeper hiding below the surface. That said, "Africa Screams!" is not terrible. It just isn't consistantly funny enough to be recommended. The plot is really just an excuse to get our comedic duo to interact with animals. Diana Emerson (Hillary Brooke) is on a quest to find a lost diamond. Stanley Livingstone (Costello) has the map to the diamond memorized, so he and the shady Buzz Johnson (Abbott) head with Emerson to the African jungles. There is a pretty funny bit with Costello getting locked up with some lions. The animals seem to have the most fun. A funny little vehicle with some great laughs and gags. The "Romance" between Costello and a gorilla is hilarious. The ending is both a shock and a gigantic punchline!
Wow...not sure what to say.
