For the most part atleast, 'Batti Gul Meter Chaalu' is better than 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. However absurdist it's so-called millennial sentimentality may be, it's no denying to the fact that the film comes with a story not compromised to the issue. All in all, the story is passable even if it has melodrama because largely the screenplay is sharply robust and atleast it doesn't give a list tale which is just weaving the issue and coating it with sugar of romance. The performance of Shahid Kapoor is effective, as is Shraddha Kapoor's, and they provide perfect foil to Yami Gautam's awful cameo (despite her solid performance, led down by the shabby characterization reduced to being listener of all those sexist jokes) and Divyendu Sharma, otherwise reliable.
All of it might have worked. But Sree Narayan Singh needs to correct the art of execution. That lets the film down. But if you wanna watch it there's this one reason: SK. Watch then, for him!
Very Nice Movie. Good acting by the whole Cast. Would have seen it earlier if I knew it was so good. Shahid outdid himself. He played the character of a lawyer and a get it done guy so nicely. A MUST WATCH MOVIE!!!!!!!
'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' is a well-intentioned message film coated with a thick layer of melodrama, that is let down by its laborious pace and tedious writing.
