Movie Info

A woman needs to watch her own descent into debauchery in order to recover her soul in this offbeat drama. Gaile (Gabija Ryskuviene) is a pediatrician who has been emotionally ravaged by the recent death of her father. Gaile has become numbed to human feeling, and is unable to connect with the world around her until she gets a glimpse of herself one day on a video monitor. Desperate to shock herself back into her normal state, Gaile begins throwing herself into acts of extreme behavior, from drinking and gambling to bedding her sister's boyfriend and torturing animals, and videotaping what happens. In time, Gaile becomes addicted to her new hobby, and persuades a video editor (Marius Jampolskis) with his own demons to help with her sinister project. Kolekcioniere (aka The Collectress) was the first feature film from writer and director Kristina Buozyte.

Audience Reviews for The Collectress

Trying to shock herself back to life, Gaile, who can't feel emotions, begins videotaping herself engaged in increasingly risky acts. It doesn't really work; Gaile is much more absorbed by her film experiments than we are. We keep waiting for an epiphany that never comes.
