The low-quality animation aids to the film by not taking away from the music, which is easily the film's high point. That being said, the story is great, and does an incredible job studying the characters it establishes in this future-fantasy world. It also combines elements of Broadway (Chess, Cats, and Jesus Christ Superstar come to mind). The animation brought me back to simpler days when films like this (Heavy Metal, Rock and Rule) weren't so CGI heavy. There is a solid story told and a moral of the story, which is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Yes, it can be both! The music is absolutely incredible and literally became part of the soundtrack of my life... best memories of 2024! I highly recommend this to anyone Gen X because this reminds me so much of the cult classics of our childhood. But my children loved this too... as this film closed a generation gap. A little something for everyone! My boomer father-in-law liked it... and he doesn't like anything but Harley Davidson and busty women. Oh. Since I said it like that, it makes sense. Anyway, give this a view. It's so much fun!
