It’s mid-tier Spielberg, which is still better than the best work of many other filmmakers. But it’s been sold as some kind of reality reset, a massive alien mic drop that will forever change how we view the universe and ourselves.

Does it matter if you believe in the possibility of alien abduction, or redemption? Not at all. Just believe in Spielberg’s ability to entertain, and Blunt’s to deliver a star turn.

As attempted profundity, this doesn’t quite land, and neither does much else. Mr. Spielberg combined fairy tale with sci-fi beautifully in his 2001 masterpiece, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. Disclosure Day is underwhelming when it tries to do the same.

Despite a dedicated cast and a standout performance by Emily Blunt, Disclosure Day fails to deliver on its ambitious premise. Spielberg’s alien conspiracy thriller feels stuck in the 2000s, completely missing the nuance and skepticism of the modern world.

Let's just say we aren't exactly living in the era of disclosure. I went to see a sci-fi movie—the kind I usually enjoy—but it was terrible, especially the special effects I expected so much more! Back in the real world, the YouTube videos and podcasts discussing the topic actually hold more truth. From my perspective, using a subject like disclosure to get people into theaters is a clever marketing strategy—since many of us take it seriously—but this movie felt like a total mockery! I want my money back!

Emily Blunt is phenomenal and the film is a classic Hollywood Movie in the best way possible. Every card Spielberg could play, he plays. And he ultimately, along with a great cast and crew, pulls off the blockbuster of the summer imo.
