A die hard Knicks fan becomes head coach in this familiar and cliche comedy that ultimately wastes the talents of its lead star, Whoopi Goldberg.
Whoopi Goldberg plays an awesome coach!
Goldberg's typically favorable with her moments, but less than her attempts to be funny when she's the only comedic quality in this unfunny sports comedy. She'd followed a good concept of a seated-far-away fan-turned-coach of her favorite team becomes more than she acknowledges. The other concept of a weak team is similar (excluding the powerless team in "Space Jam"), next to the similarly somewhat semi-"The Best of Times" silliness. (B-)
The NY Knicks are so terrible, they have to get a fan coach played by Whoopi Goldberg to coach them. She turns them into winners, but the owner is more interested in selling the franchise so they have to find a way to keep the team. A decent movie, pretty dumb, but it works for a while before outstaying its welcome after a while. Mostly good as a punchline for when a team is doing poorly.
Eddie is a decent film. It is about Eddie who is a New York limo driver and a fanatical follower of the New York Knicks professional basketball team. Whoopi Goldberg and Frank Langella give good performances. The screenplay has some funny moments but is a little slow in places. Steve Rash did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor.
Quite a bit over the top film but held together by the genuine acting ability & charisma of Whoopi, she really made this film work.
The premise is ridiculous but owner of New York Knicks hires Whoopi as couch to build media & improve the team.
But things take a while till players respect her & this is typical Hollywood formula but its entertaining & easy to watch, would be a waste of time other than Whoopi.
These critics are stupid. This movie was saved by whoopi! Without her, It would have bombed.
A female fan gets to take over as coach of one of the NBA's most popular teams the New York Knicks because the team is losing badly, a new owner likes taking chances, and Whoopi has a big mouth it's not a believable story at all.
Oh dear. Typical flimsy sporting movie of fan turned coach turns losing Kicks into All Stars. Cast includes wooden basketball players. Watch something else....
Fairly entertaining and humorous lighthearted movie.
