Audience Reviews for Geometria

Clocking in at a little less than 7 minutes, "Geometria" is a very strange and atmospheric little short by Guillermo del Toro that is featured on The Criterion Collection's "Cronos" Blu-ray as a supplement. While this isn't a feature length or even a third long as most two-reel shorts, it's a creepy and hilarious little piece. The short is basically about a student who isn't good at Geometry and thus summons a demon so that he won't have to take the Geometry test again. He also asks the demon to bring his dead father back and both wishes are granted, of course not in the way he thought they would. This is a very quick and just weird short that is gory, morbid, and also very funny and takes itself lightly and most important is that it is entertaining and certainly del Toro!

This short film from Mexican fantasy/horror auteur Guillermo del Toro concerns a young man's struggle with Geometry class. In order to best the class and please his mother, the teenage boy uses a grimoire to summon a demon to help him with his geometric studies. Unfortunately, his lack of knowledge in geometry may ultimately preclude him from receiving help from the infernal regions ; ) Despite being cheesy looking, Geometria is a hilarious piece of fantastic short cinema that uses irony and and humor to leave a lasting and original impression on the audience.
