The live theater capture of the hit musical Hadestown, which won eight Tony Awards in 2019 including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, featuring the five original principals of the Broadway company. The genre-defying new musical blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. Following two intertwining love stories -- that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone -- Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.

The message is that telling these stories over and over constitutes a learning experience for the listener. I don’t know if that’s true, but I wanted to watch this movie again as soon as it ended. Go to Full Review

I would argue that it is a love story to musical theater. It shows you what theater can do, which is why I'm so glad that they chose to film the stage show instead of trying to adapt it, because I think you'd lose the magic. You'd lose the spark. Go to Full Review

If you love iconic performances, Greek mythology, or great storytelling, this is a musical you should pay the price to see. Just don't pay two coins because that's a dangerous path. Go to Full Review

Irene 6h MORE PROSHOTS. also Patrick Page in particular is great See more Ronald N 8h Don't let this one go. See more Hailey 8h Fantastic musical. Well-written. Masterfully performed by the leads. The only downside is the theater experience. People were adding commentary ranging from a whisper to yelling out at the screen. Unfortunate. It really detracted from the movie. See more Zoe 8h This is my favorite musical of all time and the proshot is beautifully put together! I highly recommend this musical to any and everyone (I brought a friend who didn’t like musicals and he loved it)! See more Tim 9h Great story performed by a great cast. See more Heather 9h For those of us who can’t get to NYC, being able to see the original Hadestown Broadway cast is just amazing! See more Read all reviews
