The appealing energetic cast do wonders with the slight material.

Ozus' World Movie Reviews

Silly, typical '50s teen type fluff with competent O'Connor and Reynolds in leads.

OK musicial, but hardly an MGM classic.

Audience Reviews for I Love Melvin

This has the Famous Dance Number where Debbie is the Dancing/Flying Football & the Team Throws her around. Sexy yet Cute at the same time in a nearly Nude Costume, a very memorable scene in Cinema History.Donald O'Connor makes his own Cinematic imprint with a Roller Skate Dance in a Gazebo, as well as A Prop & Set Dance Montage at the Photo Studio. An Absolutely Adorable Musical with the Heavenly Team of Debbie Reynolds & Donald O'Connor again.Debbie Delights too as a Marilyn Monroe Mini Me in this one, wearing at least one costume that definitely mimics MM in a Hot Pink/Fuchsia Strapless Number surrounded by Men in Tuxedo's in a Song quite similar to" Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend". Then she wakes up from that Dream, so Debbie, always downgraded from the Glam to the Funny.Donald O'Connor plays Melvin,an assistant at Look Magazine pretends to be a Top Photographer who can "Make" her Career & sets up Family Cover Shoot & other Shoots to get her attention.Well you can guess what happens as a result. Films like this are why Debbie Reynolds was America's Sweetheart, you can't help but fall in Love with her Charisma, Energy, Cuteness, Charm, but most of all, abounding TALENT.
