Overall, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was fine. While it was nice to see the pair back on screen and watch them grow up into more responsible(ish) adults, it was a little messy and there were a few uncomfortable scenes.

We've always known that Smith makes his movies mostly so he and his friends can hang out, work together, get paid and have fun. This doesn't always culminate in an enjoyable movie. But in the case of Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, it mostly does.

Kevin Smith is not interested in just fan service. There's plenty of it, but this film is ultimately Smith's plea to look to the future. The film's follow-up to Chasing Amy drives this home, and Ben Affleck still gets the best inside joke.
