      What to know

      Critics Consensus

A sustained blast of unbridled vitriol from writer-director Blake Edwards, S.O.B. is one of the blackest -- and most consistently funny -- Hollywood satires ever put to film. Read critic reviews

      Movie Info

Felix Farmer (Richard Mulligan) is a Hollywood director well on his way to killing his career. He just spent $30 million making a musical that no one wants to see. But, after several botched suicide attempts, the filmmaker has a sudden epiphany: Why not turn his moribund family-friendly entertainment into a porn movie? Of course, to make his scheme work, Felix will have to convince his actress wife, Sally Miles (Julie Andrews), to bare it all for the camera.

A once famous actor from a popular series falls over dead on a popular beach in broad daylight - and nobody notices. For days. That's the opening broadside in Blake Edwards' jab at the film industry. Mostly forgotten nowadays but for Julie Andrews baring her breasts, and that's kinda Blake's point too: everybody's in on the hustle, even we, the audience. There's loads of dark here, enough for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but it's all told with a smile. Good stuff.

I mostly watched this to see Julie Andrews 45 yr old boobies. Guess what? They were fantastic! The movie was decent too, but no masterpiece.

This movie has an amazing cast and a great deal of potential but it's a little too all over the place. But...it has one of my favorite things in the world of movies...Squeaky clean actors I like/love doing/saying inappropriate things! Julie Andrews appears topless and says some bad words and, for me, that makes it almost worth recommending.
