Director McG and writer Brian Duffield deserve a lot of credit for The Babysitter, it isn't groundbreaking but it's a damn fun film that has just enough laughs and just enough gore to keep everyone interested.

Doesn't break the rules we've come to abide in the genre, if anything it follows them to a tee, but it's delight in being supremely distasteful earns the film a charm that's sorely been missed.

Filling a movie with horror archetypes (narcissistic cheerleader, psychotic jock, sassy comedic foil) isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this is a movie that at times feels woefully archaic.

Essentially a chase movie, but zippy, sexy, darkly funny, and constantly creative, with a fluid sense of space and movement, as well as lots of blood.
