It's a quietly compelling story. And two-thirds of the way through, there's an elating good-news revelation worthy of a 1930s screwball comedy.
Glamourpuss Louise Bourgoin - as the kid's helpfully single mother - flaunts a stick-on shoulder tattoo in a bid to pass for blowsy working-class, while Rochefort offers little more than walking bedhead atop stock Gallic stubble.
