Critics Consensus

Seinfeld comes fully into its own as a divine comedy of petty grievances in a third season that mines wicked wit from the painfully awkward.

Whether an episode is about Jerry's marvelously aggravating visit to his parents' Florida condo or about how to end a relationship, the chances are that it will be written with flair and performed with gusto. Go to Full Review

What's the allure? Well, thanks to deft comedy writing and a superbly matched cast, Seinfeld never transforms its droll, quirky spirit into a cloying or jerky sitcom personality. Jerry and his affable compadres don't pander for laughs. Go to Full Review

It is sharply written, beautifully performed and very, very funny. Go to Full Review

The whole Seinfeld concept and vibe is extremely Jewish, but among the more explicitly Jewish highlights of the series are all the shows featuring Jerry's parents... My favorite of these is "The Pen..." Go to Full Review

Mitch B Jul 7 The Parking Garage and The Parking Space are the two best of Season 3. (ENGLISH) Seinfeld wasn’t just a TV show — it was a revolution. The greatest comedy of all time, no debate. Few things on television have achieved what this gem did: turning the everyday, the trivial, the absurd into perfect comedy. Every episode is a small masterpiece of observation, irony, and brilliance. And yes, when it ended, I cried. Because I knew nothing like it would ever come again. There are no weak episodes. Some are obviously at the top — the parking garage, the show about nothing, the Hamptons, Festivus, the Chinese restaurant — but every single one is great. There’s always something that makes you laugh: a line, a reaction, a look, a ridiculous twist that’s so cleverly written. The way the storylines are constructed, how they intersect and wrap up with near-mathematical precision, it’s a masterclass in sitcom writing. And the characters… what can I say? Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer are TV legends — not just because of what they say, but how they say it, what they don’t say, and what they represent. Each of them has their brilliant moments, and none could’ve been played by anyone else. They’re all essential to the show’s perfect balance. It’s true that it was a show about nothing, but somehow, it ended up talking about everything. Relationships, neuroses, selfishness, insecurity, food, sex, ridiculous social rules… and it did so with a boldness, elegance, and intelligence that’s unmatched. Years have passed and Seinfeld hasn’t aged a bit. It’s still just as funny, irreverent, and sharp as it was on day one. And that — in the world of TV — is something only a handful ever achieve. See more Cowni F 07/27/2023 Seinfeld's reputation as one of the best sitcoms of all time is truly deserved. And this season has some of the best episodes.
