Critic Reviews for Alpha House Season 2

All Critics (6) | Top Critics (5)

Compared with HBO's brilliant Veep, Alpha House comes up short; its humor is broader, its dialogue less razor-sharp. But it does generate enough laughs to make it worthwhile.

The whole thing is full of finely honed dialogue that will tickle political wonks the world over.

Trudeau and his team continue to deliver a show that , while perhaps not the out-and-out smartest scripted inside-the-Beltway series around, qualifies at the very least for the runoff.

Top Critic

Alpha House benefits from the fact that almost nothing gets done in Washington.

Oct 21, 2014 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

It feels unoriginal and not very funny, especially when held up to its inevitable competition, HBO's Veep, which wins this contest by a landslide.

I'm not sure how many actors have a perfect face for "contempt combined with a desperate need for approval" in their wheelhouse, but they probably learned it from Goodman.

Audience Reviews for Alpha House: Season 2

Please bring the show back! Would be even better today

Ken Jacowitz was in the pilot for this series, so as a person of moral conscience, I must give it a 1/2.
  • Jun 08, 2015
This is one of the best shows I have ever watched. I thought Season 1 started a bit slow, but it simply kept getting better with Season 2 being very funny. I only hope Amazon brings it back for at least one more season.
  • May 09, 2015
Funny show with a great cast, I guess it's not hard to compare it with "Veep" That being said, Veep is more biting wherein this one is more like a sit-com.
  • Mar 15, 2015
I was skeptical at first, but this show is hilarious. And funny on multiple viewings.
  • Feb 12, 2015
Garry Trudeau takes his wit and insight to Amazon. Hilarious view of DC and politics
  • Nov 20, 2014
A funny, laugh out loud take on so many things political. Well developed, excellently acted characters; superb writing; great directing...it all adds up to unstoppable binge watching.
  • Nov 08, 2014
I binge-watch very little. But this? Yes. Can't wait for season III. Very few shows have me laughing out loud, but AH does -- and often!
  • Nov 05, 2014
This entire series has been an enjoyable ride. My husband and I find ourselves laughing out loud. Some of the stereotypes and comedy are a bit broad but the entire thing is well paced and hilarious with characters that you can revile and empathize with at the same time. It's not quite as zingy and snarky as "Veep" but it's worth your time.

absolutely fantastic.. why cant network TV be more like this!.. Between this and House of Cards on Netflx, these are fantastic DC shows worth watching .....
