The story of William Morgan (1928-61), who joined the effort to topple Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1957; and rose to the rank of "comandante" while fighting with the Second National Front, a guerrilla group in the Escambray Mountains. After the defeat of Batista, he believed Fidel Castro would return Cuba to democracy; and, as a result, helped fend off a 1959 coup. His trust was misplaced, however; and within two years he was executed for fomenting opposition to the Cuban leader.

He's considered one of the most accomplished men to become president and, though in office only a short time, he accomplished quite a bit. He's mostly remembered for his death, however. On July 2nd, 1881, four months after taking office, he was shot twice by a madman. If the wounds themselves didn't kill him, the care he received?including archaic and unsanitary measures?certainly did. He died 79 days later.
