Executive producer Steve Carell recruits Rashida Jones, his former co-star in "The Office," for the lead role in a police procedural that plays out like a small-screen version of "The Naked Gun." Angie Tribeca leads a squad of LAPD detectives who investigate, says the network, "the most serious cases, from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides." Angie works best alone. The only problem? The squad also includes apoplectic captain Chet Atkins, quirky, bespectacled medical examiner Dr. Monica Scholls, and Detective DJ Tanner.

Critics Consensus

Angie Tribeca's unique blend of sharp wit and broad humor - and the obvious fun being had by a talented cast - make for a consistent, charmingly absurd spoof of police procedurals.

Everyone associated with Angie Tribeca appear to have carefully studied and mastered the original source code for this specific type of comedy. Mostly they all look like they're having a good time. You will, too. Go to Full Review

Like Airplane! before it, Angie Tribeca honors the hyperactive yet attentive viewing that is rewarding of such specific comedy, its commitment to the smallest, possibly cheesiest gags within thorough production design and performance. Go to Full Review

Dipping into Tribeca's Technicolor world of slapstick for a quick shot of absurdism can be a whole lot of fun, but being enveloped by it just feels like you're drowning in a comedian's wacky fever dream. Go to Full Review

Angie Tribeca certainly proves it has the comedic chops to generate laughs - the question is how long can the writers keep the creative energy flowing. Go to Full Review

After her milquetoast characters in The Office and Parks and Recreation, Angie Tribeca marks not only Jones' strongest role to date, but, given her frequent straight-woman status in those shows, her funniest as well. Go to Full Review

It's easy to see where the next laugh will come from, but that doesn't detract from how enjoyable this sitcom is. The running jokes are part of its appeal. Go to Full Review
