Ballers is imperfect, but Johnson carries it with the assistance of a strong supporting cast and rock-solid filmmaking.

Whether the key to "Ballers'" success is the absence of Entourage creator Doug Ellin or the presence of Johnson and EP Peter Berg... the new focus on fame and fortune carries a welcome nod to reality.

Ballers feels like the football equivalent of the hip-hop music world of Empire - just as entertaining, and even less predictable.

I had hoped the casting call for naked women willing to grind on a man while he talks on the phone doing man things had been retired permanently.

It's exciting to see who will pop up next week, and the background music pumps energy into the show, creating the same party vibe that made the first few seasons of Entourage so fun.

The show is as easily consumed as a can of Pringles, and to be clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

This show is an easy watch, very entertaining and has The Rock driving a gorgeous Range Rover whilst singing 'Shake it off' at the top of his lungs. Does it get any better? I think not.

The whole show is a lot of almost, but not quite.

A very impressive star-showcase for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who gets to show real range beyond his big-screen heroics.

Is Ballers as aspiration-free and mercenary as HBO's last attempt at lifestyle porn disguised as television? Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Ballers doesn't try to provoke belly laughs, but the bad behavior and character interactions are amusing enough, and Mr. Johnson makes for a terrific TV lead.

Audience Reviews for Ballers: Season 1

  • Oct 03, 2018
Ballers is a very entertaining show about a couple of financial managers with athletes as clients. It's not super funny, it's not super serious, and honestly there isn't a whole lot of drama, so I'm not sure what to really classify it as...but it's good. It's a show that you can watch no matter what mood you're in (and you don't have to be a fan of sports to like it), and it's a very easy watch given that the episodes are only 30 minutes each. Dwayne Johnson is charismatic as always and really the entire cast is likable. Don't go in expecting to be blown away, and you'll probably find yourself to be pleasantly surprised.

This show reinforces sexist and racist stereotypes.

    Love it! Amazing cast!!
  • Feb 15, 2018
This show is one of the worst I have ever watched. I think the combination of awful writing and poor acting (aside from Johnson) makes it so painful to watch

    An original of it's own.

Loving it man!!! not only entertaining but also motivating for being an entrepreneur or athlete in the future. Taking notes from the show on how to deal with people with charm and smartness and being ferocious when needed

Amazing show, so real & entertaining
  • Feb 22, 2017
Dwayne Johnson can carry 'Ballers' on his back with his charisma alone but he doesn't have to with help from Rob Corrdry and various other interesting 'fictionalized' personalities.
