Tv Season Info

The third season of the comedy series brings back Ilana (Ilana Glazer) and Abbi (Abbi Jacobson) and the weird world they live in. This time, however, the show focuses more on their personal and professional lives, rather than their antics. While dealing with Tinder, unexpected parties, involuntary thefts, accidental injuries and a "Mrs. Doubtfire"-inspired situation, the two ladies also have to deal with Ilana losing her job, Abbi dating Trey (Paul W. Downs) and lying to Ilana about it, Lincoln (Hannibal Buress) finding a new girlfriend, and the inevitable strain that all this puts on Abbi and Ilana's friendship. However, the bond they share is strong, and will not be broken so easily. Season 3 also brings in a host of big guest stars, such as Alan Alda, Hillary Clinton, Whoopi Goldberg, Tony Danza and Vanessa Williams.

Like a packed piñata of absurdity, each episode rains unforeseen treats, from physical pranks to existential banter to all manner of sexual exuberance. It's all smartly visualized around town and briskly stitched together.

The highlight of this season for me was Abbi trying out Tinder. Oh my god was this episode amazing. I laughed for days.

We need Broad City. Because on top of making us cackle on a weekly basis, it gives TV a shot in the arm.

Jul 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Broad City continues to capture the absurdity and humor of life for 20-somethings in New York, all without the pretentiousness of most shows set in the eccentric city.

Jun 18, 2018 | Full Review…

What has always made Broad City both appealing and potentially alienating is its commitment to mocking the lives of (mostly white, young) New Yorkers. That doesn't change in season three.

Feb 17, 2016 | Full Review…

Uproarious, tear-inducing, side-splitting, and tell-everyone-you-love-and-hate-immediately good, Broad City is the funniest show on TV right now.

Broad City is back to an incredibly strong start.

Mar 4, 2016 | Rating: 9/10 | Full Review…

The dramatic stakes are as gloriously low as ever in the third season of Broad City. Perhaps that's why it remains one of the very finest of the current generation of anti-aspirational sitcoms.

In Broad City's third season, the show's duo continues to run up against caricatures of class and privilege.

Feb 16, 2016 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

Broad City offers something zany, warmhearted, and sweetly liberatory, like a piñata spilling out Red Hots, Plan B, and pot snickerdoodles.

Audience Reviews for Broad City: Season 3

the show is losing its way. shoving Hillary Clinton in our faces alienates 50% of the US population, sadly. thinly disguised as a leftist PROPAGANDA, the writers have lost their creativity and the main characters are becoming unlikable.

Best and funniest TV show I have ever seen. The characters and stories are absolutely awesome.

Season 1 and 2 were great, Focused around weed and shenanigans. Season 3 got political and terrible real fast. I don't need my comedy shows shoving politics down my throat. Also ilana becomes a caricature of herself, in a bad way.

The show that makes Millennials fall in love with New York.
  • Jun 23, 2016
About as solid and good as the first two seasons. The first four episodes aren't very funny, but then at Episode 5, it picks up till the end. They are honestly some of the best episodes of the series! There's also some great cameos!

There were plenty of laughs to be had with this latest season of Broad City, even if its formula is getting noticeably a bit trite. Abbi and Ilana still have amazing chemistry together, and keep the show persistently fun and watchable, but the writing itself, however, is a bit more hit-and-miss this year. The show has refused to evolve too much, despite an added sense of continuity this season, although they do definitely stick with their strong-set. The best episodes are those concerning millennial trends such as Tinder, while the episodes that revolve around other issues tend to come off as less than whole-hearted (I.E. the Hilary Clinton-featured episode borders on propaganda). Three years into it's run, Broad City is still being compared to HBO's Girls if only because it focuses on 20-something women living in NY, but at this point Lena Dunham's series has matured from a hipster-lite version of Sex in the City, to a subversive coming-of-a-age story, while Broad City remains a more commercial outlet. It stands to reason to say this: Broad City is the show that millenials want, while Girls is the series that they need.

These two navigating New York City isn't solving world problems, but doesn't shy away from important world issues. It feels like a show in 2016 and it is refreshing.
  • Apr 05, 2016
completely preposterous. like workaholics with the foundation of a job to fall back on. there is no continuity, only absurdism. every episode tries so desperately hard to be "new york" and, in reality, nothing about this is based on the "struggles of NYC life". This show was a struggle at first and now it is a complete chore. Avoid at all costs.

Bliss. Pure bliss. This show makes me incredibly happy, and I will cherish that forever.

In its 3rd season, it's become set in stone that this is my #1 favorite comedy show. Broad City presents comedic brilliance like I've never seen before. Ilana and Abbi's humor is almost undefinable. I'm glad they're getting the praise that they are because these two weird ladies are definitely going to accomplish big things in the comedy world after this show. The future of Ilana and Abbi is bright and I couldn't be happier
