Scientists throughout the ages have performed experiments that, in hindsight, may have seemed questionable. This series, hosted by actor John Noble ("Fringe"), recalls stories of scientific undertakings that didn't just push the envelope but, instead, soared off into Dr. Frankenstein territory. Dramatized re-enactments bring to life Soviet scientist Dr. Ilya Ivanov's attempts to crossbreed humans and apes, UFO researcher Morris Jessup's investigation of government invisibility experiments, as well as other outlandish-but-true topics. Then viewers are left to form their opinions about whether these profiled individuals were truly way ahead of their time -- or just plain crackers.
