A modern take on David Cronenberg's 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons, Dead Ringers will feature Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes--including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics--in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women's health care to the forefront.

Critics Consensus

If Dead Ringers doesn't wield as cutting a blade as David Cronenberg's original chiller, it's not a pale imitation either, thanks to Rachel Weisz putting on a clinic in doppelgänger duplicity.

Dead Ringers, like Cronenberg’s otherwise perfect movie, never quite figures out how to reconcile the sibling drama with the medical ethics narrative... Go to Full Review

This visual feast adds a seductive allure to the story of obsession, codependence, ambition, viscera, madness, patriarchy, genius, and capitalism. It’s so effective that some viewers might feel guilty for being immersed in it; they might even turn away. Go to Full Review

Nic F @munitots Jul 3 I thought this was excellent, kept me glued to the story every episode. Rachel Weisz did an outstanding job, playing two very different, complicated and unique characters throughout. There were some excellent plot points regarding where you draw the line ethically and morally, for progress, romance, finances and happiness, which were really interesting. Even without that, a great thriller, with a satisfying end. See more M Q 01/23/2025 I really liked it! - Movie - like style / look - Rachel Weisz great appearance - Dirty wealth people - Creepy sometimes - Very visually detailed about child birth process I think it's first time on TV when it's showed how it really looks. - It's really gore in terms of birth.
 - Some scenes were too long for me but mostly I've appreciated slow burn.
 - It's sometimes metaphorical and twisted - All the worst things related to pregnancy and birth in one show. See more Connie T @RT53259364 08/25/2024 Pretentious dross. Infantile writing, and comparable direction. The gradual mental decline of the sisters is excellently portrayed by Rachel Weisz. See more Craig B @Boundsy 10/21/2023 To say Dead Ringers is entertaining would be a stretch. It is however compelling viewing, not least due to the incredible Rachel Weisz's outstanding and chilling portrayal of both Mantle twin sisters. Certainly not for the faint hearted, with a number of disturbing scenes (considering the medical nature of the story, it certainly pushes the boundaries). An intriguing and worthwhile experience if you can manage the extremes of the content on offer, but it's worth persisting just for Weisz's truly remarkable dual performances. See more echoegami o @RT71226532 10/04/2023 Using the body horror genre to tell the betrayal of our society towards our bodies. Our own body's natural, devastating and at times traumatizing process of existence. All of this, while being held hostage in this world by misogyny and patriarchal serving systems and practices. Body Horror without the glamour. Honestly, I haven't seen such well written 3rd wave feminist writing like this in a long time. It is an inclusive piece without being distant or performative with it's wide scope of female experiences. It hits the beat it's striking for in every scene. I love how they weave those scenes through the story to give weight and volume to the subjects they give us. See more Read all reviews
