Based on the graphic novel of the same name comes an unlikely coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of unsanitized 1980s counterculture. A homeless, disillusioned teen named Marcus is recruited into Kings Dominion, a secret academy for the Deadly Arts, where he struggles to find his place among a community of the deadliest characters in the world -- literally fighting every day for survival. It is in this struggle he tries to find purpose and family in an unlikely group of outcast misfits who plan to use their skills to really change the world for the better... by breaking every rule there is.

It's very much a story of '80s rebellion, complete with John Hughes archetypes, but that tale is one that has been influenced by Park Chan-wook and Quentin Tarantino. Sounds fun, right? And it mostly is.

This was a pretty good series. Interesting characters, intriguing premise. Unfortunately canned after one season with bloody cliffhangers! So it's hard to recommend when the viewer won't get complete closure…

I watched trashy one-dimensional inconsistent characters with complete lack of morality trying to tell a tale of proper revolution against a statu quo. "Killing who you think deserves it" should imply that the characters are capable of thought and of a morale compass, and I mean in a sense that would exceed the primitive law, as described in a Freudian sense, of an animal tribe and the "alpha rule". Here, it's just your basic stupidest thugs. Guys, I don't know how was your high school but we were capable of more, and even destructive thoughts and thoughts about killing could be worked without being stupid. I understand what it tried, but it failed too much. The show lacks humor, consistency, it does not take itself seriously yet does not provide fun either. I don't know the source material, but it's possible it's like this too. What worked 100 percent with a graphic novel audience really does not work for me. The cast delivers, but not the show and its messages or consistency.

I really enjoyed Deadly Class. Loved the characters, the dialogue, drama, and action. So disappointed to find out the series was cancelled. The last episode left me hanging. Wish a movie could be made (like Serenity) to tie up all the loose ends. Deadly Class is so much better than others that got multiple seasons, I am just heartbroken.

Pretty good watch. Definitely, something different! Would be interested in seeing a second season, to see where the story could go.
