Dr. Billy Grant has a Harvard medical degree -- except he was last in his class, which partly explains why he's the in-house physician at a Vegas hotel casino. Still, his vow to uphold the Hippocratic oath sometimes puts him at odds with the hotel's manager, Tommy, who's a hypochondriac to boot. Dr. Grant gets help from a nurse practitioner, while Tommy oversees casino host Vic Moore and student/blackjack dealer Veronica.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Dr. Vegas may take place in the city of sin, but casting heartthrob Rob Lowe as a can do no wrong doctor is too bonkers for viewers to believe.

It could fulfill your need for end-of-the-week glamour and escapism. But the premise is unrealistic, the exchanges are fairly awful and Randy Jackson is a canker on the dramatic profession when he attempts to play a singer's manager in the pilot. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, Dr. Vegas seems like a watered-down casino drink, infused with too many tired ideas and not nearly enough punch. Go to Full Review

Overall lack of heart is one of the major flaws in the show. Lack of credible characters is another. It requires a generous suspension of disbelief to accept that anyone in this show exists in the real world. Go to Full Review

[Dr. Vegas] is burdened by a shaky premise and some of the limpest lines penned this side of Coldplay's lyrics. Go to Full Review
