"Goldfaced" takes a refreshing detour from The Flash's normal formula, as Barry hangs up his superhero suit to go undercover with Ralph for a stealthy mission in the black market.
Fun, fun episode and it shows that Ralph's got a lot to offer on the team still...or is he funnier when Cisco is gone? Plus, not much Cicada so that helps as well!
Goldfaced marked two strong consecutive episodes for The Flash. There's still enough episodes left that it could win me over all the way. These next few episodes will be critical in this case. Let's see how it plays out.
There's a distinct lack of superpowers on... "Goldfaced," but the almost complete absence of meta abilities this week actually makes for a better and more entertaining story.
While the storylining behind the team's Goldface mission was problematic...it's hard to deny that it was an enjoyable adventure.
The Flash took a welcome detour this week as Barry and Ralph went undercover in a black market arms ring.
It was fun watching Ralph and Barry team up. The laser tag sequence was epic. 100% accuracy and no hits...these bad guys are worse marksmen than a stormtrooper.
Even without Barry suiting up until the very end, and minus too many superpowers on display, Goldfaced is a lean story, if quite fun. But the ongoing Cicada thread is a buzzkill.
The season and storytelling could be improved by some deaths that pack emotional punches, especially with Nora digging herself deeper and deeper.
"Goldfaced" was incredible all around, but [Ralph Dibney] was the heart of it.
The minimalism of "Goldfaced" suggests a show that has gone over-budget elsewhere and needs to make up the cost overruns, but it mostly works as an effective change of pace.
