Young Kai Ichinose lives in the red light district but sneaks away at night to play a piano in the forest. Shuhei Amamiya is the son of a professional pianist who transfers to Kai's elementary school, where he is bullied by classmates. When Shuhei is dared to play the mysterious piano in the forest he meets Kai, who is seemingly the only person who is capable of getting sound out of the thought-to-be-broken instrument. Kai's ability earns him the respect of Shuhei and his music teacher -- a former master pianist -- who try to convince Kai to take piano lessons, which he resists.

08/03/2019 It was painful to watch the difference between season 1 and season 2. especially towards the end, what were those last episodes? season 1: you could see them PLAY the piano. fingers landing on the keys, beautiful animation. Season 2: still frame of someone sitting in front of the instrument. More hair animation than finger animation. season 1: to each (relevant) musician, a different visual way to express his music/emotion. Season 2: every song the same cheap-effect just slammed over the screen. didn't even bother to pick a different preset for each artist. last scene of season 2: that's not even animation anymore, they just got a real video of someone playing and slammed it on there. season 1: an explanation here and there, but the music was in the foreground. season 2 made me want to scream "can I get 10 seconds of music without someone's thoughts interrupting the music with full volume? season 2 also hat lots of cheap cuts, not even letting the music sound until the end I don't know what happened, but they must have cut the budget to a crazy extent. It was sad to watch that decline. :/ See more Mayank A @Mayank197 06/28/2019 The second season seems to be a big drag, the focus on other characters and their life only prolonged the already dull storytelling, the repetition of the same music over and overall again didn't help the matter much. Did love the ending but I do feel the anime should have been shortened instead of staying true to the manga. See more Read all reviews
