[Friday Night Lights] is a meditation on subjects dear to the heartland, told with a deft touch, fastidiously choreographed football sequences and sophisticated camerawork. Go to Full Review

But of course, saying Friday Night Lights is about American Football is like saying The Wire is about wires. Forget the sport: this is a portrait of a community as seen through its youth, its teachers and its families. Go to Full Review

What makes Friday Night Lights superior is that it does not declaw the all-American pastime or present a bucolic version of small-town life. No, in this series, life and football are shown in all their gritty, sweaty, and, yes, dramatic glory. Go to Full Review

It is a totally American feeling, and that is something that very few TV shows manage to capture. Go to Full Review

The first season of Friday Night Lights accomplishes something that few television dramas are able to do: It betters the 2004 film (starring Billy Bob Thornton) on which the series is based. Go to Full Review

Patricia v Sep 22 Good story-line as well as the sport thrill, some good actors, a pity it's badly filmed, seems like I'm watching a home video. Still on s1, hopefully it gets better! See more THE NASHVILLE I @Nshvlleindie Jun 24 Truly a perfect season of television. Stories from all walks of life that were compelling, scathing, wonderful, but most of all meaningful. The longest season of Friday Night, season 1 really aired out all sorts of passion from its characters with inspiration and nothing to lose. See more K2 F Feb 17 The characters are mostly written as stereotypes and the writers don't hesitate to betray these thinly-written stereotypes with ham-fisted attempts to deliver on social themes. A film such as 'Remember the Titans' was able to deal with the issue of racial tensions in a far more honest and straightforward manner. See more Regal R 03/01/2023 80/100 - Honestly not a bad show. Some of the characters and writing is a bit odd. Its hit or miss. It's either really funny with great, witty dialogue, or it flops to some weird writing with plot holes, bad pacing, etc.. It wasnt received well and its hard for me to rate this because the first 2 seasons are mostly great. Season 3 is kind of bad. Season 4 gets revamped with michael b jordan but is still meh. season 5 is a bit better. Like I said the show is both good and bad, hit or miss throughout the episodes, I kind of wish the characters stuck to their character type instead of every single character changing to the opposite of who they started as. It makes the show kind of hard to watch because it's very predictable when you know if X happened last episode, the character will do Y next episode. Unrealistic in that aspect and breaks the 4th wall. Wroth watching though, its a drama for sure but its decent. They nailed the highschool drama from episode one (even if they look 20 years older than what they are supposed to). Love coach Taylor, matt, Tim riggins, Jason... So many good story lines started off great See more Read all reviews
