Jon gives a history lesson on the Children of the Forest and the First Men to Daenerys, who later unleashes the fury of her Dothraki horde and Drogon on the Roseroad. Meanwhile, the reunions continue at Winterfell with the return of another Stark; and Cersei mulls her next move once the Crown's debts are repaid to the Iron Bank.

I thought this battle was effective particularly in its restraint: It had an intimacy to it, even in its scale. It managed to feel epic and visceral at the same time.

Hand back your trophy, Battle of the Bastards. Take a hike, Blackwater Bay. Hard luck Hardhome. From the moment the Dothraki horde rode whooping over that hill it was obvious the Lannisters v Daenerys was going to be special.
