In the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester in the 1950s, gruff, down-to-earth police inspector Geordie Keating's methodical approach to police work complements the intuitive techniques of local vicar Sidney Chambers, and later the Rev. Will Davenport. Geordie forms an unlikely partnership with both men of the cloth, and as partners they bring different insights into the crimes they start to unravel, forming true friendships as they work together. Village life in Grantchester proves to be much livelier than its sleepy appearance might suggest, with intrigue and gossip swirling in the background of Geordie's investigations.

Poor tortured Leonard, who was defrocked in disgrace, and the devoted Mrs Chapman, have been the reliable constants at the heart of the series, and it's good to see them at the fore. Go to Full Review

Adrian D @paperdoilie Mar 6 We have been fans of Grantchester since the start. However, something has changed in series 10 and it's not for the better. This is supposed to be a crime drama set in Cambridgeshire in the 1950s and 1960s. First point of contention is that characters are using modern language and slang that would not have existed back then. Second, the portrayal of some characters is an insult to those people who suffered discrimination and even criminal convictions in those times. Grantchester has become a set of 2020s characters in 1950s costumes. It feels all wrong. Gone is the angst, the rooting for the underdog, the bonding with the characters. And finally, with all the ridiculous and poorly written sub plots, the whole point of the series, solving a murder has been relegated to the background. It has lost its soul. See more Rajani N @Inajar Jan 9 I really enjoy the Granchester series. It’s light-hearted, enjoyable, sometimes profound and touches on a range of characters lives. What I dislike though is like so many English cosy detective series, the murderer is always the outsider, the person that is excluded, or the person who is the poorest. It feels like an inbuilt bias. See more Arlene R @RT58891756 Jul 2 As loyal fans of Grantchester since Season 1, we now feel it has drastically changed direction and can't decide whether to be a comedy or a more serious drama. The mix doesn't work! Things started to go downhill when Sidney left and have not recovered. We are now finding the storylines not only implausible but bordering on stupid. Starting with the continuing fake Wisteria on the vicarage to ridiculous plots we sadly no longer anticipate watching any future episodes/series. See more Douglas L @DL1976SG Jun 30 I and my wife have for the most part enjoyed the first 9 seasons of Grantchester, adapting to the changing Vicars along the way. Season 10, though, at least through the first 3 episodes, seems to be a bit dull and flat - low energy - as if someone flipped the dimmer switch. We'll give it one more shot but we may be past the expiration date on this one. See more Read all reviews
