irony f Oct 16 If you have been a fan of gundam but got bored of the repetitive escapism of "one op gundam comes and makes any and all military vehicles and other mobile suits worthless except for a few 1v1 fights to sell toys by making them look overpowered and filling the anime with 95% one sided smackdowns" this is the anime for you! Before this we only had thunderbolt (which went from 1 op main character wiping everyone to 2 rival op characters wiping out everyone as if it was a moba) and ms8th team (not gritty, just a fun Saturday night cartoon with vietnam vibes and more proper tactics). Gundam iron blooded orphans dropped the ball and wasted cool mech designs by making the mc insanely op and edgy and having 99% of the fights just be him wiping everyone. Here it feels like we finally get a look at how a war in the gundam universe would look like and its amazing. The story and characters could use some work but thats the case even in character driven iterations like 00 and seed. This at least has the bonus of being the most badass version of a war in this universe were seen. Its just fun See more isa l Jul 12 The show reminded me of some of the original gundam series. They were heavy clunky machines where every slow and heavy move counted. It represented the new types well, immediately from the first episode, especially how the gundam was hesitant to the MC screams the gundam pilot is a new type too. The crushing coffin feeling of the cockpit, the use of children in war, and the many/frequent deaths were so nostalgic of that era of gundam. Not to jab, but the negative reviews give me "gundam seed" era gundam or have never actually watched gundam. It was a shame it was so short as a 24 episode series would have allowed us to explore more characters like the midnighters, commander longs unit, and be able to explore the gundam pilots back story and how he was a new type on the federation side. Even the pink haired ranger girls backstory could have been explored. Initially, the storyline showed some promise, but it quickly declined into a weak and poorly developed narrative. The characters lacked depth and meaningful growth, making it difficult to stay emotionally invested. Unfortunately, the ending stands out as one of the most disappointing conclusions I’ve seen in the entire Gundam franchise. I would strongly advise against watching this series.
